What Will You Learn?

In this course, you will build your skills in creating and analysing a range of texts for a variety of personal, social, cultural, community, and/or workplace contexts. 

The following assessments will be completed in this course:

Creating texts:

  • Descriptive Piece
  • Advocacy Text
  • Transformational Text

Responding to Texts:

  • Short Story Collection
  • Film Trailer Study

    Written Responses: 800 words each
    Oral Responses:  5 minutes each

External Study:

  • Language Study: analysis of language used in a context chosen independently by the student

    Written Analysis: maximum 1500 words

Who Is This Course For?

This course is for students who:

  • have successfully completed two semesters of Stage 1 Essential English or English
  • Need 20 credits at Stage 2
  • Seeking NTCET and/or an ATAR
