SNAPSHOT
Specialist Mathematics is designed to be studied in conjunction with Mathematical Methods.
What Will You Learn?
In Stage 2 Specialist Mathematics, students will develop advanced mathematical skills and techniques across various topics, including calculus, differential equations, vectors, complex numbers, mathematical induction, functions and graphs. They will apply these concepts to solve real-world problems and prepare for higher-level studies in mathematics, engineering, and science fields. Students will also refine their ability to reason, communicate, and justify mathematical ideas clearly.
Who Is This Course For?
This course is for students who want to:
• Learn how to apply advanced mathematical concepts and problem-solving techniques.
• Use these skills for tertiary studies in STEM-related fields such as engineering, mathematical science, physical science, and computer sciences.
What Do You Need?
Students need a strong foundation in Stage 1 Mathematics subjects, especially in topics such as algebra, trigonometry, and calculus. A graphics calculator and access to relevant mathematical software, like GeoGebra, are also essential for success in this course.
Target Audience: Stage 2 students who have completed Stage 1 Specialist Mathematics with a C grade or better.
