What Will You Learn?
In this course, you will investigate the growth of modern nations at a time of rapid global change. You will develop insights into the characteristics of modern nations, the crises and challenges that have shaped them and the impact of both internal and external factors in their history. You will hone your skills in sources analysis and research, and present reasoned historical arguments that provide researched primary and secondary evidence to support your position.
Topics the course will cover are:
- Germany 1918-1948
- The Changing World Order (Cold War focus) 1945 -
The following assessments will be completed in this course:
AT1: Historical Skills:
- 2 Sources Analysis tasks
- 2 Historical Argument tasks
AT2: Historical Study:
- Independent investigation into a topic from 1750 onwards, presented as an historical argument
AT3: Examination
- 1 x sources analysis
- 1 x Modern Nations essay

- Successful completion of Year 10 and/or Stage 1 History courses
- Strong written and oral communication skills and analytical ability
