What Will You Learn?

In this course,  you will use an inquiry approach to learning through observation, speculation, prediction, experimentation, analysis, evaluation, and communication. You will develop and extend your science inquiry skills and reinforce your understanding of science as a human endeavour. You will explore the links between chemistry and observations of the physical world to explain how different substances interact and function.

 Who Is This Course For?

This course is for students who want to:

  • Learn and have an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
  • Pursue a career path in science-related fields such as research and development, science, engineering, education, medicine, and many more.
  • Students will need
    • Successful completion of two semesters of Stage 1 Chemistry.
    • Good understanding of scientific concepts and principles.
    • Basic computer skills.
    • A scientific calculator.

What Do You Need?

  • NTSDE will provide students with a code to access an ebook textbook.   If students would like a physical hard copy of their textbook this may be purchased by their home school or themselves.
  • NTSDE will send out non-returnable Practical Investigation Kit’s at the end of Term 1 Week 3 and Term 3, Week 3.
  • Textbook being used in this course and contents of the kit are listed in Subject Information Materials page.
