What Will You Learn?

In this course you will learn about the main legal structures and processes in the Australian legal system. The course includes in-depth studies of Australia’s parliamentary and court systems, and a focus on human rights. You will consider how the Australian legal system responds to and contributes to social change. You will learn to investigate and evaluate different perspectives on contemporary legal issues and make informed recommendations for change.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is for students who are interested in:

  • studying how our legal system works
  • researching and evaluating current legal issues and cases
  • social justice

This course includes an external examination. It is an academic subject designed for students who are seeking an ATAR. It provides useful knowledge and skills for university study in a range of courses, including law and other humanities subjects.

What Do You Need?

High-level literacy and research skills.

  • Successful completion of Stage 1 English is highly recommended.
  • Successful completion of Stage 1 Legal Studies is recommended but not essential
