What Will You Learn?

In Stage 2 Economics, students will:

  • Understand and apply key economic concepts such as scarcity, choice, opportunity cost, market structures, and macroeconomic objectives.
  • Analyse real-world economic problems using data, graphs, and models to predict outcomes and make recommendations.
  • Apply economic thinking to assess the effects of policies, market structures, and economic indicators on consumers, producers, and governments.
  • Develop skills in critical thinking, data analysis, and communication, including evaluating both intended and unintended consequences of economic decisions.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is for:

  • Students interested in understanding how economies function, from markets to government policy.
  • Those aiming for careers in business, economics, finance, or government, or who plan to pursue university study in related fields.
  • Students who want to improve their research and critical thinking skills, earn an ATAR, or understand economic systems to make informed decisions in everyday life and future careers.

What Do You Need?

  • Physical equipment: Access to a computer and the internet for research, data analysis, and completing assessments.
  • Prior knowledge:

You will need well developed literacy and numeracy skills.  

Familiarity with key economic concepts from Stage 1 Economics is an advantage, but prior completion is not mandatory.
