Stage 2 Physics
Recommendations:
Successful completion of Stage 1 Physics A (1PYI10A) and Stage 1 Physics B (1PYI10B) is strongly recommended for progression to Stage 2 Physics (2PYI20).
You should be confident with rearranging formulas, interpreting graphs, and using right-angled trigonometry, and be able to work independently.
What Will You Learn?
In this course, you will learn about:
· Motion and Relativity: projectile motion, momentum, circular motion, gravitation, and special relativity.
· Electricity and Magnetism: electric and magnetic fields, the motion of charged particles, electromagnetic induction and its applications.
· Light and Atoms: wave behaviour, wave–particle duality, atomic structure and the Standard Model.
You will design and conduct safe investigations, analyse data, evaluate evidence, apply concepts and calculations, and explore science as a human endeavour.
You will complete seven summative assessment tasks:
· 2 Folio Tasks (a Science as a Human Endeavour Folio and a Deconstruct and Design Folio)
· 4 Skills and Applications Tasks (Topic Tests at the end of each unit)
· 1 External Exam
Who is This Course For?
· This course is for you if you enjoy physics and want to understand matter, forces, energy, and the laws governing the physical world. It suits students interested in further study or careers in physics, engineering, technology, astronomy, medical imaging, or related fields.
What Do You Need?
· NTSDE will provide you with a code to access the eBook textbook. If you prefer a physical copy, you or your home school may purchase one.
· NTSDE will send out non-returnable ‘Practical Investigation Kit’s at the end of Term 1, Week 3.
· You will need a scientific calculator and reliable access to the online course materials.
Target Audience:
· Stage 2 students.
